Kanaan Ministries is a South African Christian para-church ministry founded by Roly and Amanda Buys. Based in Cape Town, the ministry exists with one desire: restoration — specifically the restoration of the Bride of Messiah and equipping believers with the tools needed to walk in victory and blessing.
This restoration touches all three areas of a person: spirit, soul, and body. The ministry focuses on deliverance, inner healing, intercession, and biblical foundations, and serves believers locally in South Africa and internationally.
Amanda Buys is a teacher and prophetic minister who began counselling from her home over 30 years ago. She has since ministered throughout South Africa and internationally, presenting seminars and teachings on deliverance, inner healing, intercession, and the Father Heart of God.
Roly Buys is an author and teacher focused on Biblical Roots, the Messianic perspective of the Feasts, and restoring family blessings and the role of fathers. Together, they now minister as a team and travel to South Africa and Europe. Kanaan Ministries has been under the spiritual covering of Pastors Edward and Dalene Gibbens for more than 30 years.
No. Kanaan Ministries is a para-church ministry — it is not a church or congregation. The ministry works alongside and into local churches and small groups, equipping and teaching believers through resources, courses, and events rather than providing pastoral care or church membership.
Yes. Teaching materials are available in German and Dutch, accessible from the Other Languages section of the website. The primary language of the ministry and the majority of resources is English.
Yes. Roly and Amanda present seminars, workshops, and conferences throughout South Africa and in Europe. Details of upcoming events are listed on the Events page. As they are now more selective with invitations, check the website for current availability or contact the office directly.

The free PDF library covers a wide range of topics all centred on restoration, including: deliverance, inner healing, generational curses and blessings, spiritual warfare, intercession, the Father Heart of God, identity in Christ, Messianic feasts and Biblical roots, family restoration, the role of fathers, prayers of renunciation, and more.
Prayers of Renunciation are practical prayer guides that help believers renounce occult roots, generational doorways, and spiritual bondages in their lives. They are grouped into broad categories and are available as free downloads from the website, or can be ordered from the ministry office.
They are used alongside the Journey2Freedom course material — specifically from DVD 1 onwards — as a guide in repentance to help facilitate your walk in victory.
The recommended starting point is Journey2Freedom (J2F). It is the foundational course and the place to begin working through all of Kanaan Ministries’ resources. After completing Journey2Freedom, the next step is Journey2Wholeness, which addresses the inner healing and emotional side of walking in freedom.
Journey2Freedom (J2F) is Kanaan Ministries’ foundational course, comprising 9 manuals and over 140 video sessions. Topics covered include:
- Man’s purpose and identity in Christ
- Generational blessings and curses
- Spiritual and occult roots
- Spiritual warfare and deliverance
- Inner healing (Books 8 & 9)
The course can be studied at home at your own pace or in a group. Manuals for Books 1–7 are available as free downloads. Books 8 and 9 include third-party copyrighted material and are available for purchase. Videos are accessible via a monthly streaming subscription.
Journey2Wholeness (J2W) is the second major course, designed to follow Journey2Freedom. It focuses on the inner healing and emotional aspects of restoration — dealing with emotional wounds, identity, and walking in wholeness across spirit, soul, and body. It is described as “the other side of the coin” to the deliverance work in Journey2Freedom.
Beyond Journey2Freedom and Journey2Wholeness, the ministry offers:
- Advanced Counsellor Training School (ACTS) — for those called to minister inner healing and deliverance to others.
- DID/SRA Course — specialised training addressing Dissociative Identity Disorder and Satanic Ritual Abuse from a biblical healing perspective.
Yes, absolutely. Both Journey2Freedom and Journey2Wholeness are designed to be studied at home at your own pace or in a small group. Group study is actively encouraged as it helps spread costs and provides mutual support and accountability.
All course videos are available through a monthly streaming subscription on the Kanaan Ministries website. There are several subscription tiers depending on which courses you want to access. A free tier is also available that includes introductory lessons.

Yes. You are free to cancel your subscription at any time from the Membership Account section of the website. Many members choose to continue their subscription after completing the course material as a way of supporting the ministry — but this is entirely your choice.
Journey2Freedom manuals for Books 1 through 7 are available as free downloads from the website. Books 8 and 9 include material from other ministries and are copyrighted, so they are available for purchase only. Journey2Wholeness and ACTS manuals are also available to purchase from the shop.
Kanaan Ministries is a non-profit ministry. Donations are gratefully received and can be made through the Donate page on the website. Maintaining a course subscription is also a meaningful way to support the work of the ministry.
Kanaan Ministries maintains a network of trained counsellors who use their materials. Information about the counsellor network is available on the Counselling page.
To prepare for a counselling session, you are generally required to have first worked through the Journey2Freedom course — particularly Books 5, 6, 7, and 8 — and completed the Occultic Checklist. The counsellor will review your written responses before the session.
Yes. Before attending counselling through the Kanaan Ministries network, you will need to have worked through the Journey2Freedom course. J2F Books 5, 6, 7, and 8 are mandatory preparation. You will also need to complete the Occultic Checklist and document what stood out to you as you worked through the course. These notes are submitted to the counsellor before your session.
